Set up Showboat with Cursor

Cursor can screenshot the feature it built, narrate each screen, and push it to Showboat as a walkthrough your team reviews. Setting that up takes one prompt in your repository.

1. Paste the setup prompt

Open Cursor in your repository, the one whose feature you want to show, and paste this into a chat with its agent:

Set up Showboat for me. Fetch https://showboat.show/install.md and follow it.

Cursor fetches Showboat's setup playbook and follows it, step by step.

2. Sign in once

Cursor adds Showboat's MCP server, or asks you to add it, and your browser opens Showboat's sign-in. Sign in with an email link or with Google. There's no key to paste.

If Showboat's tools only show up in a new chat, start one and ask Cursor to continue the setup from step 2.

3. Answer a few questions

A few questions, one at a time: which Project the walkthroughs go to, which feature to show first, and where to take the screenshots.

Each comes with the answer it recommends, so pressing Enter is fine. On your own machine it captures right away, with no deploy.

It mints Showboat's push key and keeps it out of your code and out of the chat.

4. Open your first walkthrough

Cursor captures the feature with Playwright, pushes the screenshots with its narration, and gives you the link.

Share it where your team talks: Showboat doesn't notify your team about a new walkthrough yet.

5. Fix something small

Circle something small on your walkthrough, right on the screen. Then tell Cursor:

Pull the open comments on my Show and fix them.

It reads the open Comments, fixes what they point at, captures the screens again and pushes a new Take to the same walkthrough. No deploy in between.

6. Tell your team

Cursor offers a short update with the link, and invites the people you name.

If it can't invite people, a Workspace Owner invites them under Settings → Members.

A Project it just created starts with no Team access: an Owner grants a Team access under Settings → Projects, or new Members won't see the walkthrough.

Last, it asks whether you want a fresh walkthrough on every deploy too. It only adds one if you say yes.

Add the server by hand

The setup prompt adds the server for you. Prefer to add it yourself? Put this in .cursor/mcp.json in your repository, or in ~/.cursor/mcp.json for every project:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "showboat": {
      "url": "https://showboat.show/api/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Sign in to Showboat when Cursor opens it in your browser, then give Cursor the setup prompt to finish.
